I saw the commercial 2 or 3 time in Los Angeles. I don't remember the channel or the name of the company. It said call for health insurance, low premiums and pre-existing conditions are okay. Anyone see the add and know the name of the company?

  1. I haven't seen the ads running in LA, but I've seen them in other parts of the country. If you've ever heard the expression "if it's too good to be true, it probably is," it applies here. What they are offering is "limited benefit plans" that pay you a specified dollar amount for certain services. Example: "(omitted) includes the following benefits on an indemnity basis: $250 Daily Hospital Benefit, $250 Intensive Care, $50 Doctor Office Visit, $50 Emergency Room"...  In other words, even if the bill from the hospital is in the thousands, the policy will pay you $250 per day. While the plan may technically meet the definition of insurance, it certainly is not comprehensive coverage. Be skeptical.

  2. Yes; however, you need to read the fine print that says this is not insurance, a discount plan only. Don't waste your $ on these type of misleading plans.

  3. I'd bet you, dollars to donuts, it's not INSURANCE.  It's a health PLAN.  Which is not insurance.

They basically sell you  a LIST, of providers, who will allegedly do the healthcare, at a discounted price.  They don't PAY anything.  They don't guarantee that the providers will give you a discount.  They only sell you a list.
