  1. I have about a dozen energy efficient bulbs in my house.  I've had them for several years.  The electricity savings is hard to tell because during that time my computer, microwave, dishwasher and television have gotten bigger and take more juice.  I have kids that forget to turn the light off so, I may not have noticed the bills going lower but they sure would have gone higher!!!

Also, I have found that the new bulbs last much longer then incandescent bulbs, so I have not had to replace them as often.

  2. Haven't really taken any notice.

  3. I have

  4. It's a minuscule difference in home use. Large buildings see a little difference in energy use but the savings cost is lost due to the high cost of the bulbs. Besides the new bulbs are laced with mercury so I'm sure they'll be frowned upon when they start piling up in landfills in a few years.

  5. Yes. I have seen MAJOR diffrences.

    Now I only use them.

I ussualy go online to get them though, because the ones at Walmarrt arent really what they seem.

  6. It seems higher...lol But that has nothing to do with the bulbs.

  7. Good question!

I haven't seen any differrence and after going through quite a few that blew-out much much earlier than expected it's confirmed that the benefits don't outweigh the cost.

If you read the packaging, you'll discover that the advertised life expectancy is based on completely unrealistic usage patterns. For example, on one pack it stated that the life expectancy is guaranteed and based on testing done when the bulb went thorugh on/off life cycle of once every 6 hours. > SCAM

There is also other research out there that has confirmed that in colder climates these bulbs are actually counter-productive. Older bulbs actually radiated enough heat on average to reduce the usage of oil or natural gas to heat your home.

  8. NO  !!!!

  9. I have them in all of my lights in the house. I have not noticed a significant change because we also began doing other things to save energy. Our electric bill is on averaging and it has been lowered the last 2 years. Where I see the most savings is in replacement bulbs. These last so much longer, which does help reduce trash.

  10. no. probably because i still use the dryer, which comprise bulk of the energy bill. too bad energy efficient bulbs aren't cost efficient, since they break like crazy and usually don't last as printed on the box.

  11. I can't say we have, half of the house has regular, the other has energy efficient ones.  None of the regular ones have gone out yet to replace.  As soon as they do, though, we will be replacing them with energy efficient ones.

  12. I certainly do. And by a very noticable amount. I changed 9 lightbulbs (eep! that was expensive) and I did the math, and expected maybe a dollar drop in electric bill. But instead I got a thirty dollar or so change. They paid for themseleves after two months.

An added bonus, was I did it during the summer. Those 9 old lightbulbs would change the temp of my house by a degree every twenty minutes, which my airconditioning had to combat. With these new ones, my AC was never on as long.
