I saw an Amy Winehouse one last week, she was actually better than Amy, because she could sing in tune and stand up straight.

Oh and she turned up on time, and completed the set.

Who was yours ~ or do you hate them in generel?

  1. I hate them! The worst for me was being dragged to see Vic and Bob whilst 9 months pregnant and the whole 1st half was former contestants from stars in their eyes.

My husband was too scared to look me in the eye all the way through. I ate my £6 bag of minstrels with extreme sound effects to convey my displeasure!

  2. When my kids were small we used to have 'concerts' in the living room.  My youngest son (6 years old at the time) could do a really good impression of Alvin Stardust leather gloves and all!!!!

That is the only tribute act I have ever been able to enjoy.  ; -- D

    Edit.

Bloody h**l, memories are coming back now. sniff, sniff. ☹

    Here's the man!!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ6dkyVw5...

  3. I'm not usually very keen on them, but I have seen the Bootleg Beatles and Bjorn Again (the latter for my daughter's sake, she loves ABBA) and both were really good.

  4. I don't like Robbie Williams but went to a tribute act, it was to raise money after the tsunami. He was really good. Saw a good Meat Loaf, Tom Jones (not keen but he was good) and Freddie Mercury. Seen a few really. And have always had a good night, much cheaper and more approachable than the real thing.

(saw an Elvis, he was only ok and annoying cos he really thought he was him)

  5. they weren't a tribute band, but Morgans which way used to do great queen covers, close your eyes, and the drummer's vocals sounded just like Freddy

  6. I have a friend in an ACDC tribute band that is great. The singer doesn't look like the singer from ACDC but he sure sounds exactly like him.

  7. No not really, the real thing is always better.

  8. Rattle & Hum are the best U2 tribute act Ive ever seen

  9. I hate them in general.  No, that's too strong, I couldn't be bothered about them in general.

Saw a great cover musician in Malta once; did a fabulously upbeat version of 'Another Brick in the Wall' on a Hammond Organ.  Now, that was funny!

  10. My b/f has always been a big fan of Pink Floyd and he has been a few times to see The Australian Pink Floyd show and says they are probably the closest you'll get to the real thing

I have heard their CD and I can't tell the difference but my b/f says they are amazing live

  11. i'm a huge Elvis fan....and on the whole i detest the genre that is the elvis impersonater! but.....and im almost a little embarrassed at this......last christmas an ad in our local paper caught my eye, it was for an Elvis tribute show, it was a guy called Lee 'memphis' King.......and said it was an evening dedicated to Elvis.......well, me and the bf bought tickets and went!! i can honestly tell you that my 38years, i have never had such an amazing night out........he looked perfect, he sounded perfect, the show was perfect.......it took you right from the start of Elvis career, through every different era, right up to the white flared jumpsuits.......my other half isnt even an elvis fan.....and he enjoyed it as much as i did! x
