Have you seen any studies showing what would be required to bring the USA to EU standards for basic entry?

No I haven't but why would we possibly care? Are you in favor of a "Union of the Americas"? I consider Europe far below us in many ways.....social, economic, medical care etc. Yeah that sounds elitist.....oh well!

our entry into the EU is going to come by things already in place , NAFTA, WTO, etc... In case you have not noticed, theres been several meetings with mexico and canada on the issue of a NORTH AMERICAN UNION and creating a merging money called the AMERO, once all this is in place, then we might merge either way, this would strip our constitution away from us, because we would be policed under international laws....there are already laws in place to pluck an american citizen from his home and charge him with violation under internation law, overriding our constitional rights. so if this sounds good to you, be prepared to lose ALL your rights.

EU needs to work pretty hard to meet USA's standard.

One big stumbling block for the US would be the Death Penalty.  You can't enter the EU with it as a form of punishment.
