If you have express your opinions on it... not just the issue of global warming. Also has anyone seen the British film "The Great Global Warming Swindle"? Discuss both here.

Yes, I have seen Al Gore's propaganda and I must say that is about all it is.  I don't doubt that the earth is warming because technically we are coming out of an ice age.  I am sure that man has an effect on the environment but saying that we can reverse this global event is a bit egoistical.  (Don't get me wrong we should be more environmentally friendly).  The earth is not static it never has been things are constantly changing.

In most of the data he presented, which he tried to cover his bases quite well, I'll give him that, he forget to account for several important factors for example the fact that the solar constant is not constant and he did not even consider the magnetic poles.  There is data out there that shows Mars is also in a warming trend and there are no humans there so what's causing that Mr. Gore?  

Being lectured to, by a man, who does not hold a degree in anything close to climatology, geology, environmental studies, or really any science is irritating as a environmental studies student.  He's a @#*&ing lawyer!  

One class in college does not an educated environmentalist make!

Perhaps if Al Gore actually started living or acting like he believed his own propaganda, I'd take him and his issue a whole lot more serious.  As it is my favorite phrase comes to mind when I think of Al Gore and his Inconvenient Truth,

Your actions speak so loud I can't hear a word you're saying!

yes, and i thought it was quite informative for the average american, however i wish it would have provided even more scientific evidence because that would help to give people an idea of what's happening to the world. maybe some stats about how many species have died as the temps warm up and such...

I watched "An Inconvenient Truth" and really enjoyed it.  I am a MSc. student in environmental science, and there was no news in the film, but I enjoyed the portrayal.  I asked a few people who weren't up on the info as much, and the general consensus was that it was a real wake-up call, and that the info was presented in an understandable, but forceful way.

I can't believe people are still recommending that "swindle movie".  It's scientifically proven to be wrong.

The director made a similarly silly movie in 1997, which compared environmentalists to n***s.  Channel 4 had to issue a public apology for that one.

Even Channel 4 doesn't believe that nonsense is correct.   If you go to their website, on the page for the film are links to factual global warming sites.  You can "Ask an Expert" and your question goes to a respected mainstream scientist who says man is mostly responsible for global warming.

Gore's movie is a little overdramatic.  But even scientists who have criticized him on some details agree he has the basics right.  Global warming is real, caused by us, and very dangerous.

Gore's movie isn't perfect but, compared to "swindle" Gore looks like an Oracle of Truth.

Last week, the CBC aired Sir David Attenborough's (BBC) "The Truth Behind Global Warming" which said that the planet is facing a doomsday scenario, unless we act on carbon emissions.
