The "gender lines" of fashion we have grown up with are being eroded away by the exercizing of natural desires. When women use menswear to create more options in their wardrobe, they are making the choice to dress more like men. Lately, men are finding their sense of fashion and wanting more options and many of their choices are coming out of women's wear. There continues to be more fashion creations, sightings, or news stories which are aimed at or that involve males, ranging from the ages of children to adults, containing information about them wearing girls shoes, women's heels, and other femininely perceived items, like jeans, capri pants, shirts, blouses, tunics, skirts, tights, and etc.

The focus of fashion has been directed more towards women for the past couple of centuries and women have made it their playground. Society has condoned the idea of women cross dressing, because they have labeled it made for women. In reality, an item of outer ware really has no gender preference, except that we are told it does. The designing and styling of apparel does take on certain looks, but given the proper sizing and adjustments, the items can be worn by either male or female, as menswear for women has amply demonstrated. To what extent men will want to choose from women's wear depends on each individual according to what they like for their look.

It is also well-known that there is a sort of underground movement of males wanting to impersonate women or dress like women. How is this any different then what women have been able to do with society's blessing, yet men are considered to be fetishistic and /or perverted? This masculine venture may be more true to what men are then our societal teachings have tried to make us believe. As I begin to understand this concept more, it is obvious the differences between men and women are far less than we have been led to believe.

Women seem to want men to be the stereotypical masculine embodiment that society has portrayed to them and men just wants society to let women continue to be who they are. It is time to revamp the social ideal of what men are suppose to be and let them also have the freedom to be who they are.

  1. I was hoping you would post ONE link to something, anything that supports your theory, but of course you didn't because you couldn't.  So - why don't you be the one to lead the movement to revamp the social idea of what men are supposed to be, etc., since you seem to be the only one who thinks it's necessary.  Don't forget your tinfoil hat.

  2. agree that women could wear any item of mens clothing and get away with it. But the reverse is not true, why should that be?

  3. I just wear nothing.  I hear nude is the new black.

  4. Women can wear trousers and other men's clothes because they earned the right.  In the 40's and 50's women who wore trousers were chastised.  Society said they were trying to act like men, they were jealous of men, etc..  They were not allowed to dress in trousers in church, in school, or in any professional setting.  Women like Katherine Hepburn shocked society when she appeared in men's clothing, saying that she felt comfortable in them.

If men want to be freed from the tyranny of trousers then they need to challenge social convention too.  They need to wear skirts and dresses and maintain their masculine confidence.  If anyone says anything they should say they are challenging the social conventions that have held them down in boring clothing choices.

I would love to have a boyfriend with a lean hard-body, strong shoulders and well defined pectorals.  I would want to see how he looked in an outfit like this:

I think this would show off his shoulders and pectorals and contrast his masculine form with a feminine trim.  Very interesting. I would like the feel of soft feminine clothing against his hard body.

Of course not all men could pull this off.  But if men started showing their legs, their shoulders, etc.. then maybe they would start taking better care of their bodies.  Maybe they would actually be caring for their bodies for the benefit of their women.  Men would actually be pretty.
