Its a 2 seater that was designed to get 100 miles to the gallon. But it gets better mileage. It could be as much as 230 miles to the gallon.

  1. Yeah I've been talking about Aptera for months.  I think it's a really cool car, and they're going to make both a fully electric and plug-in hybrid version.  The cost ($27-30,000) is really reasonable for this relatively new technology, and it has good capabilities with a top speed of 95 mph and range of 120 miles for the electric version.  Plus it's supposed to come out in October, so it will be the first of these long-range highway speed EVs and plug-ins available.  The only problem is that it's only going to be available in California at first.

Here are some more examples of similar cars coming out in the near future:

Available in 2009, the ZAP Alias will cost $30,000, have a top speed of 100 mph, and a range of 100 miles per charge.

Soon thereafter the ZAP-X will be available at a cost of $60,000 with a top speed of 155 mph and a range of 350 miles per charge.

Available in 2009, the Miles Javlon will cost $30,000 with a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 120 miles per charge.

Phoenix Motorcars will start selling their SUT to individuals in 2009.  It will cost $45,000 and have a top speed of 100 mph with a range of 100+ miles per charge.

Available in 2009, the cityZENN will have a 250 mile range and 80 mph top speed.  The price has not yet been set.

  2. Who's going to be able to afford the car?????

  3. I've only been touting it for months.  The VentureOne is cool ( http://flytheroad.com ) but the styling they settled on looks too much like a Harley trike to me and neither the performance nor the mileage are what was originally promised.  The Aptera has side-by-side seating and substantial cargo space, which makes it much more practical than the VentureOne.

I am seriously considering putting down a deposit on an Aptera.

  4. yeah, the thing that I am worried about is the incline on my driveway. Do I have to get out and use the remote control to drive it up? or do i have to push it?   I have seen the website, but I am wondering about the powerplant of the car.

For example, I have driven through Colorado alot, and they have some big mountains that most of my cars that i have driven through have a hard time with. So, does that mean we have a long walk ahead of us if we weigh more the a combined weight of 200lbs?

  5. Its a nice lilttle car, but not massed produced yet.  I think it is better than the Smart Car.  It would be nice if GM  or Ford would pick up  on it and put it in production.

  6. A fine car for people who are trying to make a statement by what they drive (or who always wished they were pilots).  Take a look at the Honda concept CRZ.  May be in production in a couple of years.

  7. Extremist groups share a common perception about the world. They are anti-science, anti-technology, anti-trade, anti-globalization - not just free trade, but all trade.

People who embrace extremist views and philosophies believe all large machines are inherently evil, and - worse - science is used to justify positions "that actually have nothing to do with science."

These viewpoints are naive, including the oft-stated wish to return to a "Garden of Eden." How ironic, that these same people use cell phones, laptops and jet planes as the main tools of their trade.

  8. I didn't like the look, thanks for the website though, probably wouldn't of seen it otherwise.
