Have you seen this latest car commercial???

Question

A father and daughter are going to school, and the daughter says she wants to get dropped off far away because she's emberassed that they don't drive a hybrid! Is this crazy or what! Teaching kids that they should feel shame unless their parents drive a hybrid..... What do you think of this type of marketing?

im a student and personaly i could get out of a humvee or a prius and care less hey id even ride to school in a gremlin

Meh...It's the same old snob-routine...  I'm better than you because...

Personally, I liked the commercial a couple years ago where the kid was getting dropped off at a new school for his first day, and his mom was asking if he was going to be alright.  The kid said "yes" and then got out of the vehicle...

As the kid walks in, you see what he got out of - a Hummer H3.  

But that one was also a play on the snobbish side of humanity where people have to be better than someone else...

This is what marketing does. Advertising thrives on making us ashamed that we don't drive the right car, wear the right clothes, talk on the right phone, listen to the right music, drink the right soda, etc.

I'm just glad they're using it for what is IMHO a admirable cause.

I dont think it really matters.  Its just a cleaver play on child behavior.

They are marketing it to a selective group. Just like Hummer markets to a selective group. They are just on opposite sides of the spectrum.

What is Hummer teaching kids? If you buy a Hummer, you will be powerful.

Get over it. I think it's about time there is a competing view.

That's horrible that they would try to tell kids something that is actually quite bad for the environment (a hybrid) is good for it.
