  1. Whatever the rice situation in Western countries, it's at least a hundred times worse in Asia where the most rice is consumed. It hits the poor the hardest who spend more than 60% of household income on food, unlike the rich who can switch to eating other stuff.

There are many factors contributing to the current shortage. Things like bad weather is unavoidable but one seriously idiotic error is the rush to embrace bio-fuels, which was probably championed by scientists & politicians in their ivory towers and egged on by greenies living in their own world. We may feel virtuous about driving cars using bio-fuels but our descendants are going to starve & face astronomical inflation on food prices due to the short-sightedness of this generation.

  2. The price will continue to rise, as more bio-fuel crops are grown.

In the Chinese language the word for food & rice is the same.

3rd. World countries are going to starve.

What's the point in driving around in bio-fuelled cars if we're hungry?

It's not just rice, all grains are sky-rocketing in price due to ridiculous bio-fuel crops being grown, instead of food.

  3. yes. it's a pity..
