Update on my mia BM "C"

My BM "C" made a dissapering act on me and stop calling/answering the phone. Following wonderful advice from people here in Y! I left her 3 messages and gave her a due date for her response. After not hearing from her, I assumed that she wasn't coming and count her off and planned to replace her.

So, she finally calls today (34 days from the wedding) and tells me that she didn't have the money to travel, has been saving etc. and that she finally can tell me that she will be able to attend. I offered to pay for part of her hotel bill and my in-laws will be paying for her meals to help her out.

So, I took her back. I know the she will continue to flake from today on, but I cannot afford to lose my friend. She's in a delicate situation (divorce, moving, etc.) so I truly appreciate she making the effort to attend, although she was late w/ the RSVP.

Have you taken back a BM after booting her out of the WP?

Did you regret it? or not

Thank you

  1. I've not been in this situation as I only had 2 BM's (sister & best friend), but I'd like to say that I think what you are doing is the right thing.  She's obviously going through a rough time & I think it's great that not only are you willing to help her out, but accept that in her pain, she may inadvertently hurt you.  I think your decision is mature, courteous & very generous of spirit.  You are a good friend!
