  1. The Port of Galveston is host to 3 cruise ships.

Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Conquest and the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas.

We have sailed on the Ecstasy, Conquest and the predessor to the Voyager, the Rhaposody of the Seas.

We prefer the Conquest.  As the larger of the two Carnival ship, she has a better ride.  However, her current itinerary is exhausting as you visit 3 ports, back to back.  I understand her itinerary will change next year.

The Ecstasy is a OK ship but she is showing her age.  Some people don't like one of her stops.  Progresso is a developing port and still very rustic.  Some people refer to it as Depresso. There are still a good number of street vendors, including children.  But we have been to Progresso twice and found the folks to be very nice.

Our trip on the RC Rhaposody of the Seas is the reason we will never cruise RC again.  The worst trip, service and ship I have ever been on.

The Port of Galveston departures are usually near or at capacity.  The Port Authority has spent a good deal of money improving the port to accomodate the cruise passengers.

  2. We went with the Rhapsody. It was great.

But wait to December, then will anchor the Navigator of the Seas. It is bigger than the other one and Royal Caribbean ist really good. Try it and have fun !

  3. I never went out of Galveston before...

  4. I haven't yet, but I'm going on one this week!!! I'm going on the Carnival Conquest.
