Please only respond if you've actually studied here. I know it has a good reputation and the prices are right. I am looking for specific personal experiences. I am not a beginner, I have a BFA in acting from a great 4-year college program, and I am looking to further my study. Wondering if this is an appropriate place in which to do so; if it will be challenging enough and give me what I need. Thanks so much!

  1. Yes, when the great UtaHagen was alive.

She was the best and selected me as one of the

students, for a special acting class, she created

for her top students.  I miss her.

  2. I was there as a scholarship student for four years.  HB has a varied faculty, and exposure therefore to all ways of working.  It is a serious studio where real work is done.  Uta Hagen's influence is felt throughout the classes, though no one is stifled in their individual approach to teaching.  I felt that I learned a tremendous amount.  I went from there to being a working actor.  And the price is because Ms Hagen strongly believed that all actors should be able to afford to study and pursue their craft, no matter what.   Not a bad legacy.  It's a terrific place to become well rounded in many ways of working, and you work as much as you want to - you get out of it what you put into it.  I think it's a great place.
