  1. hehe, i've been learning korean language online...i think its great and really flexible...but everything is depend on you...you decide whether its gonna work out good or bad...but i dont encourage you to take the class online if you're a mood dependent person (only study when you want..if you feel slightly lazy today..you just skip the class.) ....i was that kind of person before...so..hopefully you can decide and manage well...bye

  2. My best friend took Algebra I online last year, because she failed it two years ago, so now she's in Algebra II and she's getting straight A's because her online course in Algebra I helped her alot. I reccomend it! It's better than wasting your time on Myspace.

  3. Online Classes are Excellent!! I would go with http://www.keystonehighschool.com/  I am a  full time student. They have tons of courses for being online. It is accredited and it is worthwhile. Check it out! ; - )

  4. My son has taken several online through college: history, college algebra, speech (yes, really), and this semester he has psychology. They do not have a live component, so there is a loss in having immediate interaction with the teacher and being with students in this type of an online class, but interaction can still happen assynchronously. Most of the content comes either out of a text or through information on the course website. Most of the interaction wit the teacher and other students has been via forums. Sometimes the forums have official assignments to get the students comfortable communicating in that environment. Other teachers see the forums the same way that they see students interacting in class. You get credit for being an active participant without necessarily having a specifically assigned prompt.

Two of my kids that are not old enough for college classes yet (8th and 1st grade). They are taking online classes in a LIVE online classroom as its primary content delivery system. You have the teacher right there - by voice, with a great whiteboard system for instructional visuals, and even webcam if needed. The whiteboard is very interactive too. The kids have lots of activities where they are moving on-screen objects around to reinforce learning. Another nice thing is that you also are right there 'beside' all your classmates. Everyone has a mic and text chat. Many friendships have sprung out of these classes despite the fact that the kids live in many different states and even Canada. My 13 year old son usually hangs around an hour or two after the last class with three of his friends from chemistry. They chat, upload pictures of their latest projects, or even play games (lots of game slides are available such as checkers, chess, Mastermind, etc).

So, research the online school/classes you are thinking about to see how the content is delivered and what methods of interaction you will have with the teacher and classmates. Try both types out if you can - live online classes and also the ones that are more forum-based for interaction.

  5. On line classes are great if you Put Forth the effort.. I went through Penn Foster to get my high school diploma. I did 4yrs. in 2 yrs... While in the public school I found it very hard to grasp what was being taught to me.. When I switched to Penn Foster I was able to take my time & get it right, which most of the time it only took me twice where as in the PS there were times I didn't get it at all... Plus at Penn Foster they have Live help lines if you are having Problems.. It is a wonderful school.. Hope this was helpful:)

  6. No online classes SUCK! sorry but they do! you learn better when you are in a class! well at least thats how i feel!

  7. I am in grade 9 and I am taking an online course for an extra credit. It is really great because you get to work in your own enviroment ( eat when you want, ue the washroom when you want, sleep-in etc.). My only problem is that since you can work whenever you want you may procrastinate. You have to be an organized person who wants to learn.

  8. I've never taken any online classes coz I know I don't learn anything, and most of them cannot be transfered. I think they're only good to get a passing grade and run.

  9. I'm in the 10th grade, and I'm with Alpha Omega Academy, an online school.  I absolutely love it.  It's an amazing program, especially if you use Switched-On Schoolhouse.  You can even sign up for the enhanced version, which means you will have access to teachers every day of the week if you need their help.

  10. Online classes are great...And, might I suggest taking Penn Foster.

They have an awesome Highschool program. The classes are fairly easy (everything is open book, so no stress during exams).

I received my HS diploma through them. Now, I'm about to begin college.

    So, there you go.

Although, if you want a true highschool experience (proms, friends, classes, and teachers) stay in regular school.

I do regret not staying in and having those experiences, but I wanted a better alternative. You take the good with the bad.

Either way, get an education! It's the best thing you can do for yourself. :)
