If so, do you need to get a visa from the embassy prior to leaving or can you get one at the Bolivian airport when you get there? Bolivia recently changed their law, so it may be different if you haven't went there recently.

  1. You do need a visa.  I travelled there in January and again a week ago (I am in Puno, Peru now).  You need a visa and it will cost you $100.  You need proof of yellow fever vaccination, photos, proof of financial solvency, hotel reservations and proof of a round trip ticket.  However, you can do it in a Bolivian airport if you have your yellow fever card (you can handle the rest on the spot).  I got mine at the embassy through a visa service (it will cost you an extra $65 that way but I thought it was worth it.
