  2. they're okay for jazz, but just "okay."

    i wouldn't recommend them. the more expensive ones are made of a type of crystal, but most i've seen are just clear plastic. either way, they're sound isn't too great.

    go with a hard rubber (aka ebonite) mouthpiece; it's your best bet. plastic sounds too harsh, wood is warm but not very projecting, & other materials just don't cut it.

  3. MY GOD... that is a 60 YEAR OLD TECHNOLOGY... I can remember when Crystal Mics were the only thing you could buy... and they STINK.  When Dynamic mics came out in the late 1950's, the market for Crystal Mics dried up... I don't know anyone who still makes them because they are such cheap mics and such bad quality.
