  1. Giza zoo used to be famous of its rare animal and bird species ,but today the state of Giza zoo is really sucks. The most horrible news I knew about it was that some workers there slaughtered a 2 hump-camel and ate it !!!!

I don't know why every thing is going just worse :-(

    A solution?

I think the most effective solution is to change mentality of many people here.

  2. yea i know:(, I live nearby, this is heart breaking looking back at what it used to be, The corruption inside is what made it this way, guards salaries are so low, so they don't give the animal's meal at once , they divide it so they can get something from making people feeding the animals and it's not their total fault they are also trying to live:S:S

@baravezeco1: yea i heard that too, corruption as i said b4

  3. I agree with u,

But the important thing here is the people work there , doesn't like animals , and maybe they are working there just bcoz of money , also , as AA said, the ticket must be more expensive , like Azhar Park , and to be cheap just a day per week,

Also , as any place else in Egypt, People work there , must do their work as it have to be,

Zoo was my fav. place when i was young, also , I love animals so much, i think if i was a manager , i was going to make improvements , and take care more abt animals,

  4. I think we should fix the people first.. then comes the animals

  5. i do not care

coz i see people eating from the trash every day

i see people who can not afford medicine 4 their kids every day

i see tears and humilation in people eyes

so don't talk to me about zoo

    coz....

u know what I DO NOT CAAAAAAAARE

  6. last year - I went into the lions cage for a private tour with another family (besides my own) one of the zoo keepers thought he would impress me by pulling the lions main to make it roah ..yes it roahed but I roahed back at him and told him that his treatment of the lion was against God. He was shocked and so was the other family that were in there with us..I wonder how many times he did that before and people didnt tell him off?

The monkey cage inside meant that I got to see the keepers and how they were treating the monkeys with such kindness, as if these were loved members of the own family. the monkeys were appearing to be happy and I feed them with my own hands, they were gentle.

I also went to spend some time a lone with the Elephant, again she was well loved by her keepers.

I had three fights all together- one with some guys who felt they could sexually harass me- while I was carrying my small daughter.

Another with a women that decided to start swearing at her own daughter and hit her daughter with water that landed on me.

Although i really love this zoo (people can thumbs me down all they want for this) but the zoo needs to make its ticket prices more expensive. Its not a place for socially gathering all day and for mothers and fathers to just sit and chat and leave the children running wild- its supposed to be a place that people can learn about animals and know the beauty of them (unlike the groups young boys that i seen trying to tease the animals).

There are so many societies that have tried to help the cairo zoo, they set up training for the zoo keepers- they donated- they promoted good practices in the zoo, such as care practices for individual animals and zoo keepers, they brought in vets free of charge to raise health awareness...and its all been a waste of time. It seems the zoo is a relflection of the greater decay and I feel so sorry for those zoo keepers that are really trying to be good at a job that pays so little money.

The amount of people going in the zoo at anyone time needs to be more restricted and im sorry for the genuine children that want to learn about animals but the zoo for everyone should be a once in a while experience.

  7. its in a bad state, but when i went, it seemed the people were the animals...

some sanaweya kids on a trip or soemthing were standing in front of the monkey cage and they kept shouting "ommak matet ya gom3a" and clapping and then more and more kids came and did it, and the monkeys were all screaming and yelling........OMG only egyptian peope ye2darou yezaha2o el 2oroud!!!!!!

  8. call Animal rights

  9. i recommend a foreign investment, manager and/or staff .. or to be merged with an international zoo which can offer help/experience ..

my friend lives near it .. she told me all about those problems ...

  10. i heard about a secret plan to distroy the giza zoo to move it our of cairo and sell the land of the zoo with alot of egyptian pounds
