  1. America is simply the best.  You should move here immediately.  Australia is great, but c'mon it's America.

  2. i live here in america. but i'm not australian. i dont think amereica isn't that great. i mean, it's a really good country. but people here are not that nice. some are nice but some are mean. if you have accent, man, they'b be making fun of you. if you wanna know how it's like, you should come visit here and see how you like it. i mean australia is a great country too so i dont see why you would want to come here.

  3. I did the Work-USA program, it was really fun. I lived in America for 3 months, working and travelling. People were nice, food was huge, cars were like small trucks but it was great- but I was happy to come back to Oz- I still call Australia home!

  4. I'm an Aussie; and I lived and worked in Pittsburgh for four years.

Things I DON'T miss about Pittsburgh are:

digging my car out from underneath 3-feet of bloody snow!

c**p on all 90-odd cable channels!

summer days of 102*F with 86% humidity!

carsophaguses (potholes that'll swallow your car)!

Things I DO miss about Pittsburgh are:

the Penguins (I LOVE ice hockey)

shopping (you need to SEE their warehouses/DFOs)

      the lack of Huntsmen!!!

my stove!!!  (they make PROPER cooktops in America)

America versus Australia isn't worth contemplating.  There are fantastic things about the U.S., there are also things that suck (big time!).  Their medical system (oxymoron) is reprehensible; but you can buy fireworks for 4th of July (woo hoo!!!!).  They have some foods that (as an Aussie) are freaky (they have bright orange cheese!); but I really miss wintergreen-flavoured Lifesavers and cinnamon-flavoured anything!  American beer is okay -- but you have to try quite a few before you'll find one that passes muster.  I was particularly fond of Stroh's.  MInd you... I'm not used to being "carded" (proof of age) every time I went to buy liquor.

There are great things about America, just as there are great things about Canada or Europe or Great Britain.  Would I ever move back to the U.S.?  Probably not.  America (and this is a BIG generalisation) is just a little bit too "parochial" for me.
