I work in an internal audit department, and the audit is usually only as hard as you make it.  If we perform an audit and everyone is uncooperative and do not provide all the information that we are requesting the first thought is what is that person hiding.  Also, remember that you can use internal audit to help benefit you.  I work for a company where most people find internal audit helpful meaning they will tell us all of the risks because they know we have the ability to write a report and a lot of people see and can help recommend an action plan to resolve the risk.  If this your first audit, just be honest and everything will be ok.  Remember, you are working for the same company!
