Cant be the clutch. Sounds like a gear/tranmission issue. Its an older bike so you might be able to pick up a 'new' replacement part from a local bike breaker for very little money. Google is your friend.

I agree, it's the gear. You can choose to skip it. Just run first higher than usual and skip right to third. Or you can check slavage yards for the gear. Look on cycle trader, they always have salvage bikes for sale. Somebody has a bike they are parting out that is compatible. It just takes a little leg work.

your 2nd gear is messed up. if its an old bike and you don't want to put $$ in it just skip past 2nd and go to 3rd. it will be a little boggy but will work.

cliff: not clutch its 2nd gear in the trans.
