Haven't been called for jury duty since 1992, wonder why?

I live in Oregon, and was just curious why I haven't gotten a summons in 16 years. I got one in 1992, and got out of it by telling the judge I was leaving for Army basic training in a few days. Once I proved it, they dismissed me. I returned to Oregon in 1996, I have an active license, have voted, and done taxes here ever since, but never been called. Everyone in my family has been. I'm not upset about it, just wondering if I've been blacklisted or something. I am a registered Republican, maybe they don't want me on the jury?!?

  1. Sorry for your disappointment. Next time I am in church I'l say a prayer.

  2. It's a random system, unless you don't file income taxes, have an auto or State ID,and/or are not registered to vote, or not a US Citizen. These are the sources that jurors are derived from., and if you are not in any  of these lists the won't know about you

  3. Consider yourself lucky! I get summoned every 3-5 years and have to sit in a cramped room with 80 other unfortunate souls where we sit for 4 hours waiting on the judge to decide if he wants to hold court or play golf. I would love to have my name removed from the jury selection list.

  4. No it just that you have gotten lucky in the computer draw. Your name has never been generated.

  5. There just aint that much crime in your state. I wonder why?

I'm sure if they needed you they'd get a hold of you fast enough.

  6. Just a random occurance is my guess.

I mean, when I was registered as a *gasp* Libertarian(!!), I was chosen to actually serve on a jury.  And not that I flaunted it, but the day I was chosen, my reading material was Harry Browne's "Why Government Doesn't Work."

Still, you are in Oregon...so you might be onto something with that Republican label. ;)
