  1. I've heard of Salvia a while ago.

  2. While the herb sage and the drug known as salvia are not the same plant, they are both members of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and share the scientific genus name "Salvia." There are around 700 species in the Salvia genus, actually.  Here are just a few of the more well-known ones:

*The cooking herb Sage:  Salvia officinalis

    *The drug Salvia: Salvia divinorum

*California White Sage (incense): Salvia apiana

*Clary Sage (herbal healing): Salvia sclarea

*Garden/Ornamental Sage: Salvia splendens (red) and Salvia farinacea (purple)

If you want to know more, just do a search for "Salvia genus."

  3. Salvia is a plant and a certain kind has strong drug effect if taken.   Sage is not the same.

  4. Yes, it's been around for quite a while.

    And no, sage ≠ salvia.

EDIT: okthen79: You're either the dumbest person I've come across today, or you need to work on the transparency of your sarcasm.

  5. Its now new and techniacally wasnt a drug it came from mexico and shamans would use it to help them meditate..............it gives people the effects of things like ecstasy and speed and you trip out and gives you a mad rush and run around like a fool (youtube videos) and hallucinate. The government is cracking down on it and starting state by state to outlaw it.

No its not like marijuana even though it is all natural marijuana is by far safer then salvia (agian chack out viedos on youtube)

Never heard of anyone cooking with it but you might be able to make a tea out of it like they do with marijuana

  6. Well, yes    Salvia, is a powerful psychoactive herb.

Media stories generally raise alarms over salvia’s legal status, headlining, for example, with not necessarily well-supported comparisons to LSD

    Salvia

Hallucinogenic sage, sage, Salvia divinorum, salvia, the matrix

Salvia is derived from the American plant Salvia divinorum, a member of the mint family. It is used by the Mazatecs and others in Meso America. It is marketed in the UK under many guises. In head and s*x shops it is often sold as herbal ecstasy, using names such as Eclipse. It is also sold as a dried natural high, intended for smoking (in variable amounts) or as a herbal remedy under its botanical name, or as the matrix or 'hallucinogenic sage'.

"Salvinorin A" the active component of Salvia Divinorum, is most effective when vaporized and inhaled, but the most common way to take it is by swallowing or smoking.

Its effects are more hallucinatory than other legal highs - though high doses of the raw plant are usually needed to achieve these effects.

A dose of 200-500 mcg produces profound hallucinations that last from 30 minutes to an hour or two, while doses over 2mg are effective for much longer. According to the literature, doses greater than 500 mcg can cause the user to become completely unaware of their surroundings and enter a state of uncontrollable delerium during which they must be watched carefully.

  7. it's not new. it was legal until people started finding out about it. now here in illinois its a felony to possess but you can go to iowa and buy it still. it's an ancient mayan herb they used in ceremonies to get close to their god. it's nothing like sage. and i wouldn't do it if you are scared to trip. my friends did it last night.

  8. Well, Salvia is not actually new and it's not the same thing as the sage.

It looks like with a slighty different color. When you smoke it, it has a much much stronger effect but for a shorter period. So, it's the best drug for those times like when you're going to a party or something and you want a quick fix!
