Having Trescothick back is really encouraging – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s wicketkeeper batsman Craig Kieswetter, who plays county cricket for Somerset, has said that having regular skipper Marcus Trescothick back in the dressing room for the final two matches of the Friends Life T20 tournament is really encouraging for the side.
"It was obviously good to see Marcus out there," said Kieswetter while speaking to media reporters ahead of the crunch game.
"It had been a while since I'd batted with the big man – and to have him back out there was good. He has a huge influence at the club and on the playing field, so to have him back is really encouraging for us," he added further.
Marcus Trescothick, the 36-year-old top order batsman who underwent a surgery on his right ankle in April this year, returned to the competitive cricket during Somerset’s eight-wicket win over Durham, in a Clydesdale Bank 40 match at Taunton, on Sunday.
Though the operated ankle troubled the lanky batsman during the match, in which he could manage to score only 15 runs from 17 balls, before being bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Rushworth-c1250, his presence in the crunch game would be a real boost for his side.
"He looked really good…his footwork and his timing looked good,” said the Transvaal born wicketkeeper batsman, of Trescothick’s performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782. “Having him back, particularly ahead of the quarter-final, is massive for us,” the gloveman added further.
In the absence of Trescothick, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alfonso-Thomas-c991 skippered Somerset very well, as the side finished the group stage as Midlands/ Wales/ West Group toppers, with five wins and only two defeats in ten games, the remaining three fixtures were washed out due to rain.
Today’s match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783, at Taunton, would kick start the knock out stage of this year’s Friends Life T20 tournament. A victory over Eagles would earn Somerset a fourth straight appearance in FLT20 final.
The second quarterfinal of the day will see http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852, at Hove.
