Question:

Having Trouble Picking A Theme for My Wedding.?

I can't decide between a fairy themed wedding or a classic fairy tale wedding. I want it to be elegant and beautiful. We are having the bridal party release butterflies at the end instead of bubbles or something. I have ideas for both. I have always loved fairies but I also love the whole fairy tale wedding idea. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I can combine both or should ust pick one?

  1. Do a fairy tale theme with a fairy trinket sporadically appear here and there....like for favors and on place cards...but i wouldn't over due it with the theme...just have a big ballroom wedding gown with tuxedos in black and white or all white like prince charming.  soft sky blue like color with white flowers like Cinderella...the theme is everywhere...so it would be easy for you plan and get things on-line or stores near you.  good luck and hope its a fairy tale wedding come true:).

  2. classic fairy tale wedding, it would be really sweet. the whole idea sounds amazing :)

  3. just an idea. its always been my dream. how about some scenes from snow white?. no i am not joking. would be something different though!!!

  4. I like the fairy theme, if you must pick a theme.

Whichever you choose, what about incorporating a scent to the whole ceremony site and reception. I've read about sprinkling scented oils so whenever someone smells that scent they think of your wedding!

  5. Skip the theme!  Just do what you want, it doesnt have to follow one idea!

  6. Here's how to mesh them two.

I don't know how old you are, but I remember on ABC they used to play Disney movies on Sunday nights...

Tinkerbell introduced the fairy tale movies...

So why not have fairies "introducing" aspects of your wedding...  For example, in your bouquet have some sort of glitter spread on it as "fairy dust."

Or if you have pillers set up on the edges of the aisle, have some sort of fairy statues holding flowers or candles.

Good idea with the butterflies, it would work really well!

At the reception have the lighting be a very magical "blue or white glow."

Hope that helps! :)  Good luck!

  7. Why do you need a concrete theme?  It really isn't necessary.  You can have an elegant and beautiful wedding, that's not a theme.  That's just how you're going to present your wedding.   Elegance and beauty are reflected through the food, the decor, the centerpieces, the location, the time of day, the time of year.....etc.   You don't need to have fairy tale motifs everywhere.

Just have a wedding.  If you want to release butterflies at the end.......that's fine.  You don't need a theme to do that.  That will just be a nice touch you added.

Just have what you like, but don't have a theme. Themes are limited and really aren't all that great.   The only rule for a wedding is to make sure it's uniformed in it's formality. So, you're not going to have huge and expensive rose centerpieces, but then serve hots dogs and hamburgers.

  8. Be very careful with the butterflies...

They are pretty controversy on how well that works.

  9. Combine the best of both of them, it is your special day and if your finances will allow it, it should be excatly what you want. Congrats.
