Question:

Having a Hard Time Finding My First Teaching Job.?

How can I set myself apart from the rest? I've started some volunteer work at a local foster home tutoring, but this year I may not find a teaching position so I need to find a job relevant to teaching that will look good on my resume.

I've substitute taught for a few months after I graduated, but I don't like it because I'm just a baby sitter. Should I continue this or are their other options to gain experience. How about tutoring centers like Sylvan? Would this look just as good on a resume as subbing?

  1. Come to West Virginia - we're BEGGING for special educators!!

  2. how about being a teachers aid-I did dthat as well as a couple other people I know--it may be in special ed--but even if your degree is in regualr ed-a history of public school employment looks good on a resume--

not to mention tutoring centers don't pay good--about the same as a public school aid--more benefits workign full time as an aide in school

  3. are you in special education?  you don't really need to set yourself apart from other SPED teachers...you can go anywhere and just get a job!  my district is so desperate for SPED teachers that there are 3 alternative certification programs that put interns with NO experience in the classroom while they learn how to teach.

  4. any good job will look good

I though the nation is short on teacher i know texas is very short.
