Ive been in agony and after 5 courses of Anti-Biotics im still in constant heavy pain. A tooth that had a root canal couple of yrs ago started to give me pain so it was decided it would be pulled. The Dentist shattered the tooth and sent me to dental Hospital to have remaining roots drilled out, they did this by splitting my upper gum open and removing the roots then sewed me back up, altho i felt nothing, soon the numbing stuff started to wear off, and the pain i felt was the most frightening pain ive ever had in my life, and 3 weeks later, and during all this and before, im onto my 5th course of anti-biotics, and still on pain killers, coz im still getting terrible pain. It goes along my lower jaw, up into the back of my ear, and up into my head, im worried coz each time ive been back to the dentist they just keep giving me pain killers and send me away, i will admit its all got me very depressed and ive even fell into a chair in tears becoz of the pain, shooting up and around everywhere., its like my face is being pulled while in pain. by the way, Trigeminal Nearalga was ruled out. One thing i would like to know, if a tooth needs a root canal, can it send pain everywhere throughout the head??? - if they say i need another root canal, i will just get them to extract it instead coz once its had root canal treatment, if at some time it has to be pulled, then its gonna shatter and that means surgery to have the roots drilled out, and believe me you dont want the pain of that! - The dentist said that roots HAVE to come out incase they become infected??? - I feel if i go in and say i have more than one problem, which i do they just look at you like your some hypercondriac - im soooo depressed - thanx for reading about my boring painful gob! :0(

  1. What a horrible and frightening experience! Perhaps you should contact a different dentist and get a second opinion or see a specialist. No body should suffer in such a way. I hope it gets better, best wishes

  2. I'm a younger teen who has had three. I felt no pain for all of them. Sorry to hear about that.

  3. Nerve pain.  I am so sorry for you.  I have had 2-3 and had problems with each one--but nothing compared to what you have suffered.  I am wondering if there really infection in there--or just a nerve going crazy???  Good Luck to you.  I sure hope it gets better---soon.
