I have heard that in Australia if you are married to an Australian ( you as a foreigner ) and give birth there you will never pay anything for the hospital bills unless you give birth in a private hospital? So, if this is true are they giving this benefits to all Australian Citizen rich or poor? Is there a limit like if you have a certain income they will not give you this benefits? Is it also true that they pay you to have babies?

thanks

  1. That's right, Australian citizens and PRs receive absolutely free treatment in public hospitals for everything, including pregnancy and birth.

The baby bonus is $5000 and is currently paid as a lump sum and is available to everyone, regardless of their income. From 1st January next year, it will be means tested so that families with a combined income of $150,000 or more will not receive it. From that date, the bonus will also be paid in fortnightly installments instead of as a lump sum.

The means testing is a great idea, but I actually think we should be means testing it at both ends of the income scale so that dole bludgers and unpartnered teenagers can't get it either.

  2. Yes. About $5,000 per child. With the price of childcare in this country, the workers can't afford to have kids. Unfortunately in about 20 years time Australia will be the land of drug addicted bludgers and their tribe of unwanted kids . They usually blow the $5,000,  then can't feed all their kids.. leave them to roam the streets, cause trouble, get into drugs and repeat their parents lifestyle,  meanwhile the parents  watch tv and smoke pot, or sit in front of a poker machine. Australia has fast taken over as one of the biggest gambling countries in the world. It's not worth working in Australia unless you are on a huge wage. You can't afford to work. Australia is going down the toilet fast.

  3. Yes, and so the dole bludgers are breeding like flies, getting money for the pokies and pot. The workers in this country are going backwards.

  4. you get paid FIVE GRAND to pop one out. BUT the baby bonus is now means tested THANK-GOD

  5. Yes it is all true however all australian taxpayers contribute to medicare at a rate of 1.25% of their income also if you earn above the average income this is higher if you do not have private health cover so in a way we all pay for it  ,the payment you refer to is the baby bonus ,check out the website www.babybonus.com.au ,the payment has it merits and its downsides ,its definitley not a perfect solution.
