  1. It would take about 4 1/2 minutes

    what you do is cross multiply 70/60 (which is 70 miles in 60 minutes) and 5/x (which is 5 miles in x minutes)

    after you set that up you multiply 5 times 60 and divide it by 70 and after that you get 4.28 so i think that means 4 1/2 minutes...or 4 minutes and 16 seconds maybe...one of those

    I hope that helped:)!!

  2. 70 miles in 1hr = 5miles in xhrs

    cross multiply(70xX and 5x1)

    5=70x

    divide both sides by 70

    5/70 = 0.07 hours

    .07hrsx 60= 4.2 minutes

  3. 70 miles / 60 min. = 5 miles / x

    If you cross-multiply, you get 70x = 300.  Divide both sides by 70 to get x on its own, so x = 300/70 = 4.29 minutes

    So it would take 4.29 minutes (rounded to the nearest hundredth) to travel 5 miles.

  4. You go 70 miles in 60 minutes, so your proportion is 70/60.  That same proportion will apply to the shorter distance, so you set 70/60 as equal to 5/x   You have the miles on top, the minutes on the bottom.  Then you can solve for x.

    70/60=7/6

    7/6=5/x  so cross multiply, 7x=30, x=4 and 2/7 minutes, or about 4 minutes and 17 seconds.
