1. ABSOLUTELY!!! I've got an advanced degree and I'm nowhere near wealthy!

As for the foreclosure thing, many of them bought way beyond their ability to pay for it. They financed with a 2% adjustable rate mortgage. Adjustable means it will move and anyone who actually thought the banks would adjust it down, wasn't thinking! Having a degree doesn't guarantee the making of good decisions, either. We knew that once we were married and had children, I would stay at home with them, so we didn't include my income when we went for a mortgage. We could have qualified for a half million dollars, but we knew we couldn't pay for it once I wasn't working. If we had, we'd be in foreclosure, too.

A degree makes it possible to go get a good job that you can work hard at, make money, and save and invest it to make more money. That's the road to wealth. (I don't think Donald Trump has a degree.)

  2. Ask any English degree holders as well (me). I'm going back to school next semester. Degrees do not guarantee wealth. I've known doctors and lawyers that still struggled paying bills (while driving 10 year old cars) because of their student loans and professional membership fees and such.

  3. heheh... ask any graduate that holds a bachelors degree in Art that question. They don't call them starving artists for nothing. :-)
