He may also have to do a bone graft, too. This dentist said I won't have any pain (hard to believe for a 2 hour surgery) and just take Motrin. I told him I can not take anti-inflamatories (my stomach won't handle that) and he said then just bring a Tylenol with you. He is 3 hours from my house and very hard to contact. Is this right? Shouldn't I have some actual pain med? Thanks.

  1. Your dr must prescribe a painkiller and anti inflammatory medication and an antibiotic if needed, as post op pain is present for 3 to 5 days with minor swelling

  2. I'll be honest, if you aren't going to be taking any painkillers then it will be painful afterwards. I would suggest you take whatever you take for a headache before hand.

Anti-Inflammitories are obviously to reduce any swelling but as long as you take some painkillers you should be fine.

Alot of people are intolerant to AI's so I wouldn't worry too much about it, aslong as you've got time to rest afterwards you should be ok.
