  1. advantage is the best i think i haven't had to use it in 3 years but that was my choice......

  2. the same exact thing is going on with our pets! we have a major flea problem and we had the pest control guy come out twice in one month and we sprayed our dogs with it and it didn't do anything. We have always used frontline and it has always worked better than any product. They must have changed something! unless fleas are becoming unkillable lol

  3. try giving the ones with fleas a flea bath or a flea collar. then you can buy flea spray and spray areas around your house.

  4. First, do your cats go outside? If so they are picking up fleas outside of your own yard. Second, in bad infestations quite often a flea dip is needed to get it under control quickly. Third, if you have already applied Frontline check the directions about reapplication. This is a chemical that is absorbed into the skin and if reapplied too soon (or another product applied without waiting the recommended time) it can make you cat ill. I do sympathize with your problem about the expense. When my 3 cats all got them at once they were each bathed with a CAT flea shampoo (at home by me *sighs) and once they were completely dry the Frontline was applied. Then they got combed daily (checking for eggs and more fleas) then bathed again a month later and Frontline applied again. It took me roughly 3 months to become flea free again and they have been flea free since. Believe it or not the main thing that helps us most in summer (our cats are indoor only by the way) is keeping the yard mowed regularly.

  5. Frontline stopped working for me last year and I switched to advantage with good results. I have friends that have had a similar problem, switched and saw improvement. Not sure why. Also your pet smart or other pet store should sell Capstar. Now giving a cat a pill is not the easiest, but Capstar will start to kill all the fleas on the animal after 30 mins or so, and works for 24 hours, till the advantage kicks in. I have crushed the pill up and put it in a little tuna juice, and sometimes they will eat that. I have found that it is easier to put a teaspoon of liquid like the tuna with the pill in their mouth than trying to get a pill down their throat.

This has been a bad year for fleas where I live, so you are not the only one. Lastly, they will get tapeworms from eating the fleas, so you have to get droncet(I think) from the vet for that. If you see any little rice like worms that wiggle around on their rear end, you have tape worms.

    Good Luck

  6. Sometimes fleas can develop a generational immunity to a pesticide.  Try switching to Revolution.  Also be sure to vacuum all cracks and crevices, especially along baseboards - that's where flea larvae love to hide.
