Hello,

I just bought a Linksys Modem, I just installed it. So my Internet goes from my Modem to the Router, and the Router is connected into my PC. Now I want to add a Laptop, so that the laptop can browse internet. I manage to connect it to the Router, with code and everything. I turn on the Wireless button on my laptop and everything is connected. It even says my connection is exellent, 54 Mbits/s. But I when I open the internet, it doesn't work. So the internet works on this Computer (Desktop PC) but not on the Laptop... What am I doing wrong ? The modem AND router are turned on and everything works fine, just I can't go on the internet. Anyone have an Idea or solution ? (Step by step please, because i'm not too good with computer mechanics and etc)

Thanks alot in advance.

  1. Open your browser (Internet Explorer)

At the top you woill see tools, click on tools and select Internet Options

When Internet Options open click on the Connections Tab,

when that opens make sure there is nothing is the connections box, if there is something in the connections box click remove.  Once the connections box has nothing in it then click on Never dial a connection which is under the connections box, then at the bottom click on LAN Settings, make sure that Automatically detect settings is checked, then click okay.  Then at the top click on the Advanced Tab

Scroll down that list until you come to HTTP1.1 settings, make sure that Use Http 1.1 is checked, then scroll down to Security and make sure that Use SSL 2.0, Use SSL 3.0 and Use TSL 1.0 all have check marks in front of them then click okay.

Next go to control panel and click on Performance and Maintenance, then double click on Administrative Tools, then double click on services, when services open scroll through the list (which is in alphabetical order) to Wireless Zero, right click on wireless zero and select properties, make sure that the start up type is set to automatic, if it isn't click the arrow on that box and select automatic, then below that you will see service status, make sure that the service is started, if it isn't click on start, then click okay, then close the services window.

Restart your computer and you should be able to surf the internet.

  3. Yes i was having the same problem with a netgear router and  2 macbooks. Both had previously been able to connect wirelessly but all of a sudden neither could. I had full signal and both the router and the laptops said they were connected but for some reason it just did not connect. I have accidentally "fixed" my macbook by logging onto the original desktop and running "Network Diagnostics" and then it sends me a message saying that the connection is working and that it does not need to run the diagnostics but that hasnt worked on my sisters macbook. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Try fiddling around with troubleshooters for your computer and router,
