Having an issue with my DVR recording shows?

I have a scientific atlanta explorer 8300hd cable box/dvr recorder. Lately the series that I have set to record aren't recording. Up until the moment the show comes on it's still highlighted in red showing that it will record, but when the show comes on it doesn't. If I try to just push the record button it pops up on the informatio bar (at the bottom) that it's recording, but there' no indication on the box that it is, it's not highlighted red anymore on the menu guide, and it's no in my list of recordings. How do I fix this? I'm getting aggravated. I missed Big Brother last night and the first 20 mins of Medium tonight because of this stupid c**p.

  1. If you are recording more than 2 things it will cancel anything over the 1st 2 you set up to record. Also if you are recording 2 things you can not watch a different channel or it will cancel recording on one of the shows. If this isn't the issue then call your cable company. they can access your box remotely to try to fix it. If that doesn't work i'm sure they would be happy to swap it out for another one for you.

  2. The same thing has been happening to me over the last couple of weeks.

I have two shows set to record at 8:00: Big Brother & American Idol.  Both show that they are set to record.  At 8:05 I noticed that only one thing recording (American Idol).  If I go to the list of things to record, Big Brother now has a shaded looking record symbol, indicating that it will not record.  If I force it to record, things are fine.

I skipped ahead on day and noticed the same thing happening to another set of shows to record at the same time: American Idol & Survivor.  I forced to the recording of Survivor, and it did not complain.

Not sure what is happening all of a sudden.

btw: I have a Motorola box.

  3. Or, you've run out of room.  try to erase a few old shows and see what happens.
