Having audio problems with DVD player for TV not comp??

Ok, when I play my movies ( DVD's) on my Coby DVD player, I can only hear a part of the audio...like the background music, but none of the actual dialogue? All of my connections to the TV and player are in their proper places. Before this happened the player worked fine up until I tried unsuccessfully to program my universal remote. This happened to the last DVD player I had and I just through it out cause I thought it was damaged. Now my other Issue is my DVD players remote no longer works and the universal one doesn't either. What am I to do? Even if I get a new remote for the player I have no idea how to fix this Audio problem. Can anyone help or at least make a suggestion??

  1. Set the universal remote aside and try unplugging the dvd player for a few minutes. Plug it back in and use the remote that came with it to see if it works any better. A good number of electronic devices reset themselves when you unplug them.

I think your dvd player is playing one track - the background track - and not the other. I had a similar problem once when playing a dvd in my computer. I honestly do not remember how I fixed it. Be sure you check all of the settings and options menus that your dvd player has. It could be a simple "settings" problem like the one that Aaron W mentioned. You might also try to play another dvd.

  2. it appears to be playing 5.1 and you only have 2.0! so the player needs to be set to 2.0
