Having both parents as psychiatrists? ?

My psychology prof said that when raised by parents of which both are psychiatrists can really s***w a kid up. What do you think about this?

  1. Any parents *can* really s***w a kid up. Psychiatrists (or practising psychologists/therapists, which are different things) may be over-analytic of their parents. Being raised by social workers would have the same effect. Being raised by teachers might mean you are pushed to hard on school work. Being raised by doctors might mean they are overly preoccupied with health. Being raised by nutritionalists...

    I'm going to go with Phillip Larkin (the poet) on this one. Parents are meant to s***w their kids up, if you were perfectly normal and well-balanced, people would think you were wierd, or on drugs.

  4. no, it depends on HOW they raised you not based on they're both pychiatrists.

  5. Ha!  I know lots of people who say this and have a few friends like that.  They just tend to overanalyze everything and get neurotic.  Get a GOOD therapist to come to terms with it.  My mom is a marriage and family therapist and she has been great to have around.
