I don't want anymore children. Just wondering about possibly side effects and others personal experiences with it. Was it a good decision for you? If you opted not too...what were your reasons? Thank you.

  1. Lol, I only asked whether that was even possible just the other day, They way I see it, if you're already having a c-section then why put yourself through another procedure when it can be done at the same time in one go, 1 lot of aneasthic etc and 1 recovery session not 2..

IF I had to have a c-section after #3 (still TTC #3) well only if I needed one yes I would have tubes down at same time. but I don't think I will need one, so will have to get tubes done a lil later after. Good Luck.

  2. My mother had her tubes tied after my younger brother was born.  12 years later, my youngest brother was born.  Somehow a small hole formed at the end of the tube.  An egg made it from the tube into another small hole in her uterus at just the right time to be fertilized.  As soon as she found out that she was pregnant not going through menopause, my father had a vasectomy.  I just wanted to let you know that although it is very rare, pregnancy can still happen even with your tubes tied.  My suggestion to you is if your husband is willing have him snipped.  It is less invasive for him than for you and the odds are much better for success.  I know that most guys are, well, let's just say it scared to have this done.  I just wanted you to know this story.  Good luck with whatever decision that you make for yourself.

  3. I once heard a true story about a couple who decided 1 kid would be enough, and the wife was convinced to get her tubes tied. Years down the line there was a divorce, and the woman remarried. She wanted kids from the new hubby but there was one problem -- her tubes were tied. I don't remember the outcome of the story. But the lesson is there. The decision is yours alone to make. Good Luck.

  4. I had mine done about ten years ago. I did not have any complications- it did seem to shorten my cycles from 7 days to 5-6 days. I am currently 38 years old and I have noticed that my cycle last month was off- but I think it also has to do with my age. I did not gain weight as a result of it- I maintain my weight w/o any work. It was a decision that I made and have lived with. Sometimes I wish I had another kid- I just have one right now. I had them tied the day after having her.

It is a decision that you and your husband will need to make together but if you decide to do it, I suggest having it done right after you have your child... it's just a little easier and you are already hurting anyway. Good luck with your decision and just make sure it is thought through long and hard b/c it is hard to have the procedure reversed although not impossible.

  5. I haven't done it, but I wish I would have.  I had my last son 7 years ago and at the time I didn't really think about it.  Now my cousin and 2 of my friends have had it done and they haven't had any problems or regrets.  I think it depends on your age and how many kids you have.  All of my friends had their tubes tied when they were either up in their 30's or after 4 kids.  But the decision is yours.

  6. well i have a large family all my sisters did it (tubes tied) and they all gained alot of weight now it was my turn i also had a csection i said no im not huge but not skinny either so i opt for the mirena iud instead i have four kids one set of twins my twins where last i didnt need to gain anymore weight its been 17mths and ive been fine with the mirena

  7. I considered it because two children are all we want but I couldn't get myself to do something so permanent, if something ever happened to one of them we might wish for another, I'd hate not to have that chance.  But I'm only 27 and it wouldn't ruin my whole life to have another, I went with the Mirena which I love so far.  There are a lot of factors that make up your decision just keep in mind you can change your mind until the very last second.  Most women are happy being worry free and it's the right choice for them.  They Forgot to tie my mom's tubes while she was in, she wasn't real impressed.

Whatever your choice best of luck and congratulations.

P.S. your c-section is scheduled on my birthday!

  8. To me it depends on your age and how many kids do you already have like my mom for instances got pregnant with my little brother 14 years after having me, so after my little brother she decided to get her tubes tied but my best friend she only had one child and was only 21 years old and got her tubes tied, now that her son is 5 years old now and she is with a new man she wants another child but unfortunately it's almost impossible.
