Having difficulty interpreting this dream...help?

I had a dream that I was with my ex boyfriend (who I haven't been with in 9 months), in my dream, he was acting TOTALLY different from the way he was to me when we were together, i.e. he was trying to hurt me in everyway possible.... emotionally. He told me, (still the dream bit) that he never really loved me, and never understood why he was with me in the first place. He did everything he could to p**s me off. In real life, when we were together, he was a very doting, sweet man.

Help?

  1. I think Dr. Kwak may be right, but sometimes its interesting to have insight from others.

Your ex may have been a very sweet and loving man, but he is your ex. If he was as sweet and caring as you said, you guys would have found a way to still be together. Maybe after all this time (and 9 months is significant--did you feel you could have had a baby with this man?) your brain is finally accounting for some of your residual feelings. If he really did in reality beat you and hurt you physically and emotionally, your breakup would make sense. You could tell yourself, I'm glad I got rid of him! It would make sense to you in your heart why you are not together right now. But maybe, just maybe you needed an explanation from him that you never got. Maybe he was sweet right up till the end, and that made it hard for your subconscious to rectify the validity of losing him. Do you know why you broke up/why it didn't work out? Do you feel the better for it, or are you not sure if it was the best thing? Given your dream, I think you might want to spend some time thinking about how YOU feel about these questions.

  2. You should read The Dream Game by Ann Faraday, it can teach you to easily understand your own dreams. It's not wise to depend on the interpretations of others since they aren't you and your dreams depend solely on how you perceive things.

  3. I think you are just afraid of being hurt in future relationships. You said that he was not like this, but he was treating you that way. I think you are afraid that a boyfriend is going to hurt you.
