I just purchased a XM radio a few hours ago. it is an audiovox express ez. I get lots of static with my reception. I am using the fm modulator that came with it to pick up the signal. I have tried to use differebt stations oncase it was interference.b it seems when I put my hand next to the reciever, the static clears up. does anyone have any sugestions to fix this problem? thank you

  1. That's an odd one. Are you sure everything's tightly inserted? Is the antenna in a clear spot? Do you live somewhere very close to the borders?

There's so many questions and (more accurate) answers available at XM tech support:

    (800) 967-2346. Give 'em a call

    Hours of Operation:

    Monday-Saturday 6AM - 2AM ET and Sunday 8AM - 8P ET

    -a guy named duh

  2. Thanks to the FCC, the FM Modulators on some of the newer models are really weak.  There are a few things you can do (assuming you are talking about car usage).

-If your car has a cassette deck, use a casette adapter instead of the FM Modulator.

-If your car stereo has an "aux input" connect your XM radio to that.

-Buy and install an FM Direct Adapter, which should be available at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.  If you needed help, I'm sure you could pay  them to install it for you.

  3. Everyone above is correct, FCC made both XM and sirius have weak FM mods due to the fact other people could "tune in"

A way to fix this is to get a boombox for the system

    Use A cassette adapter

    Use a Aux connection

Or buy a more high powerful FM Mod like from Belkin, thats what i had to do.
