  1. I'm printing mine on vellum and have already done some test copies, they printed just fine as long as we layed them out for a long time to try.  I'd do some everyday (as many as you have room to put out) and let them dry overnight.

I am using an HP laserjet printer on draft quality.  Sorry, I haven't had any trouble with fading.  Make sure you use a new cartridge and you are printing in pure black and white.

  2. Anytime I have printed on vellum I have had to use a laserjet printer (something with powder toner, not ink cartridges). Anything else, smears or doesn't seem to dry.

  3. There are different types of vellum. You are likely using one that is intended for another purpose. The thicker, waxier papers are not meant to be printed on. You need to use a thin, less-waxy sheet and print on the lowest quality setting. Even still, you will need to let it dry for quite a bit to keep it from smearing. The ink needs time to sink into the paper. If you think your paper is too waxy, try "sanding" it with a brown paper grocery bag and try it again, remembering to use the crappy ink setting. Good luck!

  4. When printing on vellum you need to use the fast draft quality setting, So it prints quickly and doesn't lay the ink down so hard. Also for the fainting make sure you are using a full cartridge of ink. Fading usually is caused when ink is running low. I printed vellum as well on my inkjet printer and had to adjust the print settings to keep it from smearing.

Also after adjusting my print settings there was no problem with drying in between each print out. You really shouldn't have to wait for drying too long if you use the fast print as a  lot less ink is used.

    Hope this helps!

  5. If you are talking about the translucent vellum paper:

I have run this through my HP inkjet printers but had to do it one at a time and separate them out to dry. This would more than likely jam a laser print or curl the paper. I have noticed different brands print different as there were a few that caused the ink to repel into bubble.

If you are talking about the uncoated vellum card stock:

This would be best printed on a laser printer or high end copier as the letters will come out crisp.

  6. I did my son's graduation party invitation on vellum and had no problems. I even printed his photo on it. Maybe it is the vellum you are using.

I used an old HP DeskJet printer. Vellum I got at a scrapbook store.

  7. i just printed mine on the same paper, and i had to use an ink jet printer and print one out and then take the rest to a copy machine and do like 5-10 at a time and then lay them out to dry. so they wouldn't smear,, it was a pain in the a**.  i just did this last month
