i have intel core2 duo 2.66ghz processor with intel DG33FB m.board, 2gb ram, 250gb sata hdd(Seagate) with windows xp sp2 installed and 6gb unpartitioned space left. when i try to install redhat linux 9 from my 3cd Linux pack i get the message "what kind of media contains the image to be installed?" but i installed redhat in another system(P4 3ghz, 945chipset, 512mb ram) from the same CDs successfully. what should i do. i need to install redhat immediately.

my hdd caused some trouble when i tried to install xp for the 1st time. setup didn't detected my hdd. i had to download a patch from my hdd manufacturer and burn it to a cd, then boot my system with that disc first, then i was able install windows xp in my system.

what i have to do to install linux?? please help...

  1. Try doing the partitioning with a Mandrake disk from a magazine - their partitioning tool system is much simpler.  Then take it out and install the Redhat on the partitions it finds there.
