Having problem with phone jack?

i have wired the blue and the blue/white wires right...but now i still have no tone just a bit of static

U HAVE TO CONNECT THE BLUE/BLUE-WHITE WIRES TO THE GREEN/RED LEADS OF THE JACK. IF THAT IS WHAT U DID AND GOT ONLY STATIC U MIGHT HAVE SHORT CIRCUIT OR GROUND ON YOUR LINE. U 'LL HAVE TO CHECK EACH BRIDGING POINT TO FIND OUT THE DEFECTIVE SECTION OF THE WIRE. IF THE TROUBLE IS NOT IN YOUR HOUSE THE PHONE COMPANY HAS TO FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE.CHECK THE SITE BELOW IT HAS VERY USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT TROUBLESHOOTING AND FIXING PHONE LINES. GOOD LUCK.

You could have any one  the following problems:

1) The jack itself is defective

2) The phone is defective

3) The phone line from your house to the central office may be temporary out of service.
