Ok, so I'm trying to defrag my hard drive, but it keeps giving me this notice saying "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (C:). Please run Chkdsk /f."

I have no idea what to do. I just installed Avast 4.8 home Edition, does that have anything to do with it? please answer my questions, thank you! ^_^

  1. This is for Windows XP:

    Start --> Run...

    Type 'cmd' (without the quotes), then click the 'OK' button. This opens the DOS command-line window.

    On the DOS command-line window, type 'chkdsk C: /f' (without the quotes), then hit the 'Enter' key.

    Disk checking will start. Wait for disk checking to finish. Once finished, close the DOS command-line window.

    Repeat doing defrag again.

  2. open up a command prompt window (hit start, run, and type 'cmd'), and then enter in "chkdsk /f" and follow the instructions.
