Question:

Having problems pronouncing the word 'S'?

Hi.

For some reason I can't pronounce the word 'S'.

For example, when I say 'say' it sounds like 'fay', and

when I say 'sushi' it sounds like 'fushi'.

To make a long story short, when I pronounce a word that

has an 'S' involved, I make it sound like an 'F' instead of 'S'.

Can someone help me find a way to fix this problem?

Have a nice day.

  1. I had that when I was in kindergarten, you have a lisp. I would connect with a speech therapist and start right away. 20 years later, I "s"peak just fine. But there are times when I catch myself getting lazy and slurring my s's. Its like holding an accent that is not your own. You do have to work at it in the beginning, but eventually it gets easier.

  2. Hi....

I think i have the answer....

my young brother also have the same problem with you...

mom always told him try to make the 'snake sound', example..shs....shs......

    try this twice a day...

I can told that u can say 's' in 1 month later.....

  3. My friend had this problem. She went to a doctor and he made her do "weights" with her tongue. WHat she did was attach some marble like tings on a string and then hold it in between her teeth. Then she had to lift the string up all the way into her mouth trying to use her tongue. Does this make sense? She also put some ruber bands (the braces type) in her mouth and was told to talk with them. It made her pay more attention to how she was forming words so she wouldn't swallow the rubber bands

  4. Sounds like you have a Lisp.

Try and find a speech therapist to book yourself in with.

  5. It seems as though you have a lisp. I would recommend seeing a speech pathologist to correct the problem.
