Question:

Having problems with IE?

When I click to view a webpage, more often than not, it comes up and says "Internet Explorer cannot display web page".

Also, I can see pics but when I go into Y! groups to join a group, it won't let me see the image you have to type in to prevent automated registration.

This has been happening for the last couple of days and I've tried to fix it but have gotten no where. Can someone please help me?

  1. I don't know if you have some application that might be preventing the captcha (image shown at the registration). TO rule out anything else, try to get that domain yahoogroups or whatever page to trusted sites and see if you can see the image.

If you can it is something with your security settings

I'll be watching this thread. If you make any progress, drop a note here

  2. I would recommend downloading and installing Firefox (www.firefox.com). In my opinion its a lot better than Ie.

But to give suggestions to try with IE. If you have IE 7.0 you can uninstall it and reinstall it. Or go back and set IE settings to default under advanced. click on tools, internet options, and then advanced and click on set to default.

Another thing to check is toolbars. If you have a lot of toolbars that are active, that could cause some trouble. Click on View and go to toolbars to see what you have in there. Sometimes they have settings that will block stuff. You can uncheck them to disable them in IE. Or go to start, setting controls panel. Click on Add/remove software and you can probably remove the toolbars under there.

I have seen some computer at work that will have the google, yahoo, and other toolbars loaded at the same time and it causes a mess.

After that my next guesses would be spyware issues as golfer2 said. You can download spybot from www.download.com and install and update it and run that. That usually a pretty good tool for removing spyware and its free. that is if you do not already have some anti-spyware program.

On yea, one of the first and basic things, should have put this up first, clear you temp internet files and cookies. With IE open, click on tools, options. Then you can delete your cookies and temp internet files, with Ie 7.0 click on delete for browsing settings and then delete temp internet files and cookies. You can pick the delete all and it will clear forms and any saved passwords.

  3. Try reinstalling it.Run a scan with your anti-spyware too.
