  1. first and foremost, look from the headstock towards the middle of the neck.

Put one finger on the 1st fret and the other finger on the 12th fret. This creates a straight line with the strink. Look in the middle and make sue their is a 1/16" clearance between fingerboard and string.

I bet it is touching the fret when you hold the press 1st and 12th fret.

Loosen the 2 middle strings and loosen the truss rod 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.

Now retune the middle string and see if the string still touches the fingerboard.

Repeat until their is a dip in the neck approx. 1/8". If it still buzzes, then , raise the action from the bridge slightly.

Don't worry, if the neck has a slight bow, the buzzing will go away guaranteed. Check to make sure that the string vibrates correctly by forming a nice loop when you hit it.

If it vibrates erratically, the string is no good and will cause it to buzz .

One final note, put .009 on a Les Paul. The neck can handle this once it is well set.

  2. Check that the strings are firmly set on the anchor piece and that there isn't a loose end touching.
