Have new Vizio Plasma t.v. Hooked up to cable and HD receiver via hdmi cable. I get great picture on HD channels but, depending on HD channel, I get programing and commercials in 4:3 ration instead of 16:9. I talked to Time Warner and they say it is the t.v I talk to Vizio and they same it is the feed that Time Warner is sending. My t.v. does not have a picture adjustment option. The Xbox is connected via hdmi and the game play is awesome. So are the dvd's I play. Wii looks good...being run to t.v. via componant cables. Can someone tell me what the real story is....is it my t.v. that needs to manipulate the picture or is it the way Time Warner is broadcasting the programming?

  1. It depends on the aspect ratio the show was filmed in.  Many television programs are still not filmed in a widescreen format.  Its not necessarily the tv or Time Warner's fault.  It is the original aspect ration of the program you are watching.
