  1. try volunteering in a special ed class for a little bit, or within a learning disabled community- or if you need $ too get a job at a group home and make sure that it is a population you can handle- there is a lot to it- but very rewarding to those who can handle it- depending on the severity of your class there are a lot of factors that do not occur in a normal classroom- drool, diapers, eating assistance, behaviors (including aggressive ones), an array of students as very different levels- and staff management (spec. ed assistants)- Special Ed does pay better in most states, and is in high demand- so in that extent it is worth while- I personally don't know how non-special ed teachers do it- I used to work in a severe and profound classroom, and took a lot of the students out to gen ed classes to help them integrate- it was very difficult to watch how naughty and disrespectful those students were- I never minded when a mentally retarded student did something blatantly wrong- but they had an excuse

  2. sure
