Having to push pee out, 37 weeks? (maybe TMI)?

I've been having what I think are contractions almost all day, since 1. I was told to go to the hospital when they are 5 minutes apart for 2 hours. When going to the bathroom (urinating) it hurts my abdomen, and it feels like I have to push the pee out. I sit down and a little comes out on its own, than I have to push and a little comes out, and i have to push like 3 times sometimes around 5. What could be causing this? Have you had this experience?? Also, I'm having a really bad pain on my left side that doesn't seem to be going away. That's where the contractions were, but it seems I haven't been having them for about an hour or so.

  1. i experienced that when the baby dropped. putting pressure on my bladder, but you have a urinary tract infection. call your dr. office if you are concerned. try drinking some water and lie on your left side.

  2. I've been having that weird pushing pee thing too since last night. I think its just because the baby's so low. If I don't 'push', I just end up going back to the toilet by the time I finish washing my hands...

EDIT: Last night I read that if you are peeing really frequently and its uncomfortable, it may be because you aren't drinking enough water. Your pee is concentrated, irritating your bladder, making you have to go often, and push it out like you say. I drank half a gallon of water over the next hour and it felt fine after that -I even only woke up to go to the bathroom twice versus the usual half dozen times =)

  3. my son engaged very early and was making everything difucult including peeing. it was an effort. lol i never thought anything of it. i think they just constrict things down there

  4. I had the same problem, your little bubba is just squishing your bladder... try standing and sitting down again to let more wee down. If you were having contractions and they have stopped you might have been having a 'false labour'... it helps move the baby down, but you might still be a way off having real labour... this baby might have a big head?
