Question:

Having trouble finding a motorcyle jacket and gloves that fit?

I'm in the market for a motorcyle jacket and some gloves for a sport bike. The only problem is that I can't seem to find a size that fits right. I have tried several on in store but I run between a women's small and extra small jacket. On the extra small all the armor feels like its in the wrong places and the small's are big around the waist area. I'm in the Vegas area so any suggestions on jackets would be super. I do think that I found some gloves that will fit but worried they are too snug. They are the Icon Arc gloves for women. The mediums are too big and the small's are snug. They are leather tho and i know they will stretch, but will they stretch enough? Also some suggestion's on a helmet for a small head (wear a 6 1/2 hat size if I wore a hat)

  1. If you're looking for leather, find your local motorcycle/leather shop.  They may be able to make you a set of leathers that fits better.  Or reconstruct what you have to make it fit.

Any old leather shop might be able to make the alterations you need.  But a motorcycle leather shop will have the knowledge background to make sure that it's going to be practical, and safe, in addition to fitting well.

The other option, is to look into either youth sizes, or check into some of the motorcross gear, which might have a better fit for you.

Lately, i know that Harley Davidson has been doing a pretty good job of putting out a line specifically for women (so it's shaped right), which might help, but it's a bit on the pricy side.

  2. if the glove does not fit you must aquit !

try cycle gear , or go to a biker event they have plenty of places that sells gloves and jackets

  3. On the jacket front, I'd suggest you see if newenough.com can fit you, and look for jackets that have an adjustable waist. The gloves sound about right, all things considered. If you want them to stretch a bit, soak your hands in water, wear them till they dry.  Be sure that the dye if any does not wash out and stain your hands (black gloves often do.)  Another solution, get some "rubber" gloves, the blue/purple non-latex (nitrile?) kind that fit so tight, and put them on, then wet the gloves.  Not only will they give you just a smidgen of stretch, they will protect your skin against the dye.

Or you can find shoe stretcher solution, at shoe stores, that will loosen them up a bit.

There are some helmets made to fit a long oval pattern and others made to fit oval heads, and others are more neutral or round shaped.  You need to try them on and find which fit you can wear for hours with out it giving you a head ache.

Read webbikeworld's FAQs on Helmets, try on helmets locally until you can pick out the maker/style that fits you and see if you can find that fit locally, if not go ahead and order from somewhere cheap.

  4. AGV Sport makes Euro sizes and inbetween sizes, I'm inbetween a Mens small and medium. They call it a "snug" medium.
