Having trouble getting a new bank account?

I keep getting refused a new bank account because the banks have a falsehood comment on there credit checking service. I have been incontact with experion reference agency and they cannot find on my file the statement that the banks keep on using to stop them giving me an account. All the banks are saying that I have been bankrupt in the past but I have never been this as experion can show and I have a report from them saying so how do I get banks to stop using that piece of information and give me a new account. Can I sue the banks for demeaning my name. I do have some credit problems which are on that report but I am getting them sorted out by a debit advice company who I have been paying for over a year from a 42 months payment arrangement I am not asking for a credit card but a decent debit card so I can pay for over the net because the one I have at the moment i.e. a solo card most companies will not accept over the net as it is not a visa or master card or maestro debit

  1. I was an absolute nightmare at my last bank, the Co-op. I transferred to The Bank Of Scotland, which is just up the hill from me.I'm sure they must have been able to see my past efforts at banking, yet they were still happy to give me an account and- good grieff- a £1000 overdraft from day one. With the account, I now have a new wee trendy debit card which I have already used on the "dot net". As this is my big chance to prove that I'm not an eejit, I'm still in credit and hope to continue in my new sensible ways!!! Good luck....

  2. Call Chex Systems  toll free @ 1-800-428-9623

  3. try lioydstsb bank they give anybody one

  4. I think that using the services of that debt advice company is the same as bankruptcy as far as the banks are concerned.

  5. Not sure where you are but they may be pulling the Chexsystem report - you can request a free copy of this online.

  6. It wont be much help in sorting the bank account problem but you can now get "top up" visa cards that you can use on line.  Go to www.3vcash.com.

I hope this is of help to you at least til you get the other problem sorted out x

  7. Not every credit report has exactly the same info. Have you checked Transunion and equifax?  I would ask the bank exaclty what it is that they are reading and basing your denial off of and request a copy. You should have the right to see any information about you.

  8. when you say "debt management company" do you mean you have an IVA?

because an IVA is equivalent to a bankruptcy in banking terms.  So that is probably what is stopping you getting a new bank account.

you will not get one with any sort of payment card while you are in an IVA.  try halifax once you are out of it, they will give you an electron card.

  9. You would actually spend plenty of money trying to sue a bank just to open a measly account?  Whatever report they pull says that you were bankrupt so they are going to go off of that.  What you need to do then is get that report fixed.

The other thing is most banks don't  look at your credit report for a bank account.  They look into ChexSystems to see how your past bank accounts were handled.  If you had plenty of overdrawn accounts or the bank had to close your account, then that is more likely the reason why you can't get an account.
