Question:

Having trouble hitting my driver...?

I play for the local golf team at my High School and we just won the city championship in which I played some of my best golf ever. Now, with the season being over, I'm having trouble hitting my driver straight ( In which before i'd hit it straight or just push it a little to the right). I can bomb it straight out there with my driver when i hit it nice, but lately i've been pulling it. I don't know if this is just lack of practice with it, or a mental issue. Plus, which also is very odd, now that i can golf casually, not in a competitive atmosphere, i'm golfing worse. I can't get into that zone i was when i was playing match-play against someone. Things seem totally inverted and it feels terrible not being able to put up pars like i used to (normally 18-holes shoot around mid-80's). anyone with a little help, feel free to answer. Thanks

  1. if i had to guess,  sounds like your pulling your arms in which usually happens when your trying to hit it to hard...

try to loosen your grip and tee-up a little higher than your usually would... but not to much..

  2. Impossible to diagnose without seeing it.  Playing casual golf and not being in the zone is OK too.  Sometimes it's cool not to worry about making pars and scoring.  The bottom line is, the more you play, it can only help.  Keep it up, enjoy your summer, if your driver is really getting frustrating, call your coach, I'm sure he'd meet you at the range and work with you!
